Sheffield Wednesday: Owls winger Ross Wallace refuses to take lowly Robins lightly

Wide man Ross Wallace is confident the Owls can continue their strong away form when they visit relegation battlers Bristol City tomorrow.

Wednesday, sitting in fifth position with six matches remaining, have lost just one of seven Championship matches away from Hillsborough in 2016.

Having gone over six hours on the road without conceding a goal, Carlos Carvalhal’s men will fancy their chances of picking up another positive result against fifth-from-bottom City.

Nevertheless, Wallace is under no illusions at the size of the task facing the play-off hopefuls.

The 30-year-old told The Star: “We have sorted out our away form. Keiren Westwood and the back four have been outstanding in the last few weeks.

“It will be tough at Bristol City. There will be a good atmosphere down there.

“We played them in the first game of the season and they are a good side. They got on the ball and passed it.

“With the talent we have got going forward and how we have defended over the last few weeks, we will go there to win.”

Wallace, formerly of Scottish heavyweights Celtic, Preston North End and Burnley, was thrilled to get back on the score-sheet in Tuesday’s hard-fought win over Blackbrun Rovers. It was the Scottish winger’s fourth goal of the campaign since arriving on a free transfer.

“It was a great feeling and I was delighted,” he said. “I’ve gone close with a few shots and went quite close at Huddersfield as well but I want to score more goals and it’s important we all try and chip in to help the strikers.

“Hopefully I can get a few more goals between now and the end of the season. That’s the plan but it is not as easy it looks.”
