Town took the field against Ecclsehill Utd with five new players in their squad, but suffered another defeat to remain second from bottom in the league.

Dinnington have just one point from their opening six games.

In Saturday’s contest, against a team based around players from Richmond International Academic and Soccer Academy, the visitors started brightly and took the lead after 12 minutes when striker Marcus Edwards fired home.

Town hit back and played some attractive attacking football.

Martin Wade had a good chance to equalise but the vistors’ keeper was quick off his line to smother the ball.

Town equalised on 23 minutes when Jamie Roper fired in a long range free-kick.

Their joy was shortlived when two minutes later, Edwards was on the end of a quick break, his initial shot was well saved by Marcus Weston but Edwards followed up to smash the ball home from close range.

Town started the second half on the attack and debutant Reece Twell had a quick opportunity to equalise whch he failed to take.

Eccleshill almost increased their lead on 70 minutes when a powerful shot hit the underside of the bar and rebounded to safety.

A few mins later, Weston made another point blank save to deny the visitors.

But Eccleshill’s pressure eventually told, substitute Roane back heeling into the net.

The vistors pressure eventually told when sub Roane back heeled into the net after some sustained pressure.

Edwards rounded things off to score a fine hat-trick when he outpaced the home defence after a misplaced cross field pass.

Town will visit Shaw Lane Aquaforce on Saturday.
