The project, which is being run by Bassetlaw Council and aims to give artists, technicians and anyone else involved in the music industry a more entrepreneurial perspective, is already proving to be popular within the local music scene.
And, as part of the latest workshop, local musicians and producers are invited to submit three demos of their work, ahead of a session that will be hosted by successful talent scouts Spencer Wells, Matthew Rumbold and Sean Denny, who run their own enterprises as well as working for record labels such as Virgin, EMI, Sony and RCA.
Coun Jo White, cabinet member for regeneration said: “This is a fantastic and unique opportunity to showcase your material to proven industry experts who have discovered, signed and managed acts such as James Morrison, Beverly Knight, David Grey and Corrine Bailey-Rae.”
“Anyone who has ever tried to submit material to the A&R manager at any record company will know how difficult it is to get access to people of this calibre.”
“These experienced professionals will be at the event to help you to take an objective look at your work and give some constructive advice on how to present yourselves.”
In advance of the workshop, which takes place on Saturday, 12th April, there is an opportunity to submit up to three recordings that you feel best represent your music and profile.
Please email these in MP3 format to [email protected] or send CDs to Maurice Mulligan, Music Industry Bassetlaw, Queens Buildings, Potter Street, Worksop, S80 2AH.
All material must be received by Friday, 28th March and any submissions after this date will not be accepted.
However, anyone is still welcome to attend the event, but organisers will not be able to return any hard-copy submissions.
The free seminar runs from 10am until 4pm on 12th April at The Well Community Centre in Retford.
To register for the day, submit a recording or finding out more about the project, contact Maurice Mulligan on 01909 533470 or email [email protected]
