Barlborough: A perfect tribute to World War One heroes

The Barlborough Heroes commemorative service proved to be a fitting tribute to the soldiers who lost their lives during World War One.

To mark 100 years since the start of the conflict, Barlborough Parish, supported by the Heritage Centre, hosted the two-day event on the Ward Lane playing fields on Saturday 2nd and Sunday 3rd August,

A book of remembrance - which was designed following money from the Heritage Lottery Fund - was presented to Hazel Greaves, daughter of Fred Greaves, who was awarded the Victoria Cross Trophy.

Across the weekend there were several free activities on offer for kids, including the screening of old war films in the marquee, a theatre and wartime artefacts were also on display.
