Talent-challenged amateur theatricals, inept rehearsals, dodgy real-estate deals and a hint of swinging sex make for a hilarious tale in Alan Ayckbourn’s A Chorus of Disapproval.
Its plot revolves around a light operatic society as they rehearse for a production of The Beggar’s Opera by John Gay. Songs from Gay’s satire on 18th century politics and morals are interwoven with, and reflect, the action of the play.
A Chorus of Disapproval will be staged by Hope Amateur Dramatic Independent Theatre (HADIT) in Hope Methodist Hall from April 30 to May 2 at 7.30pm.
Paul Archer plays the director who puts all his passion into the production, Jenni Archer is cast as his neglected wife, Tim Smallwood plays a newcomer, Jo Elliott takes the role of a local swinger and Martin Chapman plays her husband.
