Column: Bassetlaw proud to be holding annual Remembrance Day events
Bassetlaw is gearing up for their annual Remembrance Day events
Commemorations as part of Remembrance Day are becoming even more visible and once again, as we prepare to gather to pay tribute to the service and sacrifice of our armed forces, Bassetlaw District Council will proudly host events in Worksop.

A large part of the ceremony on Sunday 8th November is the parade, which will form up in front of Worksop Town Hall on the Old Market Square at 10:10am before making its way down to the town’s War Memorial.
A short wreath laying service and act of remembrance, along with a two-minute silence will follow at 11am, and we invite everyone, including current and former members of the armed forces and their families, to be part of this special time of reflection.

In Retford, we have also proudly supported the Royal British Legion as they host their annual Remembrance event in the Market Square, with the service beginning at 10:45am.
Alongside both commemorations, short ceremonies will also take place on Armistice Day, 11th November, on the Old Market Square, Worksop, and the Market Square in Retford from 10:50am.
In the lead up to Remembrance Sunday the Royal British Legion is again working tirelessly through the annual Poppy Appeal to raise vital funds that provide support for serving personnel, veterans, and their families. Please support them if you can.
In other news, our 2026 annual canvass is underway. This is when we check that your household’s electoral details are up to date.
