Trio of Lindrick youngsters in Northern Counties League win

A trio of Lindrick Golf Club youngsters played a big part in Yorkshire’s victory in the second round of the Northern Counties League.

Daniel Wasteney, Joe Dean and Jonathan Thomson all won in their match against Durham at Eaglescliffe.

Wasteney won by 4&3, Dean 2up and Thomson by 3&2.

Bondhay Golf Club played host to a charity day last week, with £1,900 raised for Bluebell Wood Children’s Hospitce.

Craig Fricker won £1,000, donated by Tim Paisley, and the winning team consisted of Ian Smith, Greg Hyde, Gary Hyde and Mick Davis.

Organiser Matt Meek said: “Thank you to Alan Hardisty for giving us the course.”

Bondhay’s Bennett’s Bowl went to Andrew Richards with 39 points, from Justin Goodwin 38 bb9 and Ross Atkinson 38.

The Captain’s Sunday Cup was won by Joel Stubbs 72-5=67, from David Shaw 89-18=71 and Alan Thompson 93-20=73.

The Full Handicap competition went to Mahamud Ishaq 40 bb9, from Josh Copestake 40 and James Ball 38.

At Worksop’s Lady President Day, A. Burrows won the silver with 35 points, from A. Haddon 34 and K. Slack 31.

In the bronze, M. Jacobs won with 33, from C. Bleasdale 32 and M. Herrington 29.

The front nine went to S. Bridges 16, the back nine to B. Wilcox 17 and the back three to C. Murdoch 7. Nearest the pin on the 18th was S. Stokes.

Serlby Park’s Sunday medal went to Neil Parrish 78-17=61, with Division One won by Stuart Sugden 76-14=62 from Ray Lucas 76-14=62.

Charles Ratcliffe won Division Two, from Bill Jameson.
