Zumba charity dance party successZu

A FITNESS instructor fron Dinnington has raised £1,660 for charity by hosting a Zumba party.

Nearly 200 people strutted their stuff and moved to the music as the latest craze to sweep the country came to Thurcroft.

The event was organised by Amanda Turner, the owner of Inter Shape in Dinnington, in aid of Help for Heroes.

The parties are now taking place at the Consort Hotel on the first Thursday of every month, because of its huge success.

Amanda said: “It is since my own son, Joe Turner, joined the royal engineers and is based in Winchester, in April aged just 17 years old, that prompted me to raise the money for this worthy charity for our heroes.”

The cheque was collected by inspirational soldier Ben Parkinson, from Doncaster, who was injured in a mine blast in Afghanistan five years ago.

As well as losing his legs, he also broke his back and suffered brain damage which caused him to lose the power of speech.

He underwent 18 months of treatment at Headley Court military hospital in Surrey, one of the vital facilities that is funded by Help For Heroes.

Guests were treated performances by Inter Shape dancers.

Zumba is a fitness programme that combines Latin and lively international music with dance in an effort to make exercise more fun.
