Owls star Tom Lees has sought the help of top Belgian physiotherapist Lieven Maesschalck as he tries to overcome a hamstring problem.

Lees has sat-out Wednesday’s last nine fixtures after aggravating the injury in the Capital One Cup quarter-final loss at Stoke City last month.

It is understood the former Leeds United player flew out to Antwerp earlier this week to work with Maesschalck on an intensive treatment programme.

Maesschalck, who works closely with the Belgium national team, is considered one of the world’s best medics in his field and his Move to Cure clinic in Antwerp specialises in rehabilitating orthopaedic injuries across a variety of sports and ballet.

Manchester City captain Vincent Kompany, Tottenham defender Jan Vertonghen and West Ham United striker Andy Carroll have visited Maesschalck in the past.

Maesschalck’s previous clients also include Andriy Schevchenko and Real Madrid superstar Kaka.

Wednesday will be hoping Maesschalck can help Lees make a speedy recovery in their quest to finish in the top six. Carlos Carvalhal’s charges have missed Lees’ wealth of experience and calmness, managing to record only three clean sheets in his absence.

In recent months, the Owls have been hit hard by injuries, particularly at centre-half, as Lees, Turner and Sam Hutchinson all remain on the sidelines.
