Steven Hobson, 38, of Chapelgate, who admitted the offence, was identified on CCTV by a drug worker who recognised him.

The court heard that on the afternoon of 12th July 2014, Hobson noticed that one of the bikes in the shelter of the Retford Health Centre, ‘looked expensive’ so he dismantled some parts, including the handlebar grips, totalling £150.

In mitigation, David Verity said that Hobson’s Methadone prescription had stopped so he needed some money to ‘top himself up’ with heroin.

The case was adjourned until 28th August.
