Worksop runners support national Let's Lift the Curfew campaign

Runners from across Worksop came together this week as Your Training Partner supported the national Let’s Lift the Curfew campaign, with more than 30 participants dressed in pink to raise awareness of women’s safety when exercising outdoors after dark.

The Let’s Lift the Curfew movement, led by This Girl Can and supported by Sport England, aims to highlight the reality that many women alter their routes, routines, and activity levels during the darker winter months because of concerns about their personal safety.

Research from the campaign shows that more than half of women feel unsafe exercising outdoors alone after dark.

This event saw runners of all abilities link up in a show of support for women across the community, reinforcing the message that no woman should have to change where, when, or how she exercises because of safety concerns.

Adrian Hopkinson for Your Training Partner said: "We were incredibly proud to see over 30 people join us wearing pink in support of Let’s Lift the Curfew.

“As a community-based running group, we firmly believe that every woman should feel safe, supported and confident when getting active outdoors.

"Our women’s sessions and community runs are designed to provide exactly that environment.”

The group is extending an open invitation to women of all ages and abilities to go along and join one of its regular sessions throughout the week, as follows;
