Help for Heroes thank Worksop community after shop raises £20,000 in just one month

A Worksop Help for Heroes fundraiser has thanked the town after the community helped to raise more than £20,000 in just four weeks.

The Help for Heroes shop, which was based at the Priory Shopping Centre, was selling merchandise from November 21 to December 24.

A team of volunteers helped to run the store, as well as give out advice to former and current serving heroes and their families.

Bassetlaw has come up trumps once again,” Tony Eaton said.

“It has been really, really good.

“It has been very overwhelming.”

The shop has been in the Priory Shopping Centre for the last three years, raising a total of £60,000.

People visited from all over and donated item including ipods and iphones.

Volunteers including the Sea Cadets and Marine Cadets were on hand in the store to sell merchandise including t-shirts and hoodies.

“I cannot thank the Sea Cadets and Marine Cadets enough,” Tony said. To raise that amount of money is phenomenal.”
