Gainsborough: Subway confirms its Gainsborough store is not included in halal plans
Subway have confirmed that the store in Lord Steet, Gainsborough, will continue to serve non-halal meats.
The international sandwich chain has announced 185 outlets in the UK will no longer serve bacon or ham in order to meet demand from Muslim customers.
This is because the pig is considered unclean in Islam and the consumption of pork is strictly forbidden under sharia law.
However, the Gainsborough outlet will be not be made a halal store and will not offer a halal menu.
Subway outlets adopting the new policy will display a window sticker reading ‘All meats are halal.’
