Enter Race For Life

WOMEN are being urged to make a stand against cancer by entering Cancer Research UK’s Race for Life.

Event organisers are issuing a rallying cry to mothers, daughters, sisters, grandmas and friends, encouraging them to sign up as soon as entry opens on Tuesday 15th January.

Last year, 7,365 women took part in Race for Life at Clumber Park and raised a fantastic £372,000. This year, organisers need 7,500 women and girls to stride out to help raise £450,000 for vital research.

This year’s race For Life is set to take place on Saturday and Sunday 22nd and 23rd June.

Alison Mackfall, Cancer Research UK’s East Midlands events manager, said: “Women of all shapes, sizes, ages and levels of fitness take part in Race for Life.”

“They come from different backgrounds and walks of life but they are united by their absolute determination to take on cancer and beat it.”

“Race for Life is non-competitive. It’s not about being fit or fast. Most women are able to walk 5km in an hour while chatting and having fun. Or they can choose to jog, run or even dance around the course if they prefer.”

Money raised through Race for Life allows Cancer Research UK’s doctors, nurses and scientists to advance research which is helping to save lives across the region.
