Church helps Zimbabwe kids

A CHARITABLE Church from Gainsborough are celebrating after raising thousands of pounds for an African charity.

Gainsborough Methodist Church presented a cheque for £4060 to the Matthew Rusike Children’s Home in Zimbabwe.

The children’s home was the charity for the year for the church - during which time they raised £4,060.

During their campaign, they held an Auction of Promises, coffee mornings, a Super Summer Evening Serenade and a jewellery.

A Church spokesman said: “Members and friends have been so generous during the year and we presented this marvellous cheque to Carol Banham.”

“She visited the home in August and then gave us an up-to-date description of life there for staff and children.”
