Following the break he returned to bogey the final hole to close with a round of 70 leaving him on a total of 277, 11 under par and a share of 10th.

The event was won by American D.A Points, who finished just five shots ahead of Worksop’s own Westwood.

The 39-year-old is not in action this week but will be in the first major of the season, the US Masters at Augusta Georgia starting 11th April.

In Morocco on the European Tour there was disappointment for Mark Foster as he missed the cut in the Trophee Hassan II.

A disastrous opening round of 82 including seven bogeys and two double bogeys gave him virtually no chance of making the weekend.

But in the second round he picked up just one bogey and six birdies in the opening sixteen holes, an eagle on the 17th saw him move inside the cut-line.

A par down the final hole would have seen him through, but unfortunately the 37-year-old from Worksop made a double bogey six and missed out by two shots.

Serlby Park Golf Club Captains Charity Stableford on Sunday was won by Martyn Gee 37 points from Andy Rowley 35 and John Walters 35.

The Thursday Medal was won by Alan Timms 84-17=67 from Peter Ashurst 86-19=67 and Alan Chambers 77-10=67.

At College Pines Golf Club, in the ladies section, the seniors took on the ladies and triumphed 3 ½-2 ½.

On Thursday 14th March J. Mokes took the stableford with a score of 36 points.

F. Pinder was the medal winner on 17th March thanks to a nett 80.

And on Thursday 21st March the medal went to W. Mulhearn, who shot a nett 78.
