Thurcroft: Carty claims English under-21 national title
Thurcroft star Ashley Carty is the new English Under-21 champion after a 8-3 victory over Leicester’s Joseph O’Connor in a high quality match at Leeds.
Carty, who played in the Worksop League, went 1-0 down but won the next four frames to lead 4-1 making breaks of 38,38,42 and 60 along the way.
O’Connor came back with a fine break of 51 to pull it back to 4-2.
But Carty was too good on the day making breaks of 57,65 and 71 on the way to victory.
O’Connor’s highest break of the day was 70.
