BABY SHINE

Wetherby 2.15 WIN

Lucy Wadham’s admirable mare has won first time out in each of the last two seasons, and is fancied to complete a hat-trick. A lovely chasing type, the six-year-old progressed so well in her first campaign over hurdles last term that she ended up tackling graded company in hot races at Aintree and Punchestown. She wasn’t quite up to that, but this Listed race is more her cup of tea, especially as she receives 8lbs from two of her main rivals. The 2m trip is a bit of worry as she’s bred for much further. But she’s not short of speed, while the ground at Wetherby yesterday looked quite testing, which wouldn’t faze her at all. Wadham reports that the daughter of King’s Theatre has returned from her summer break in fine fettle.

TIP OF THE DAY IS SUPPLIED BY SCOOP RACING (RICHARD SILVERWOOD).
