Worksop Town Under-21s manager Ryan Hall has expressed his pride as he reviewed a successful first season at the Tigers.

Although the season was cut short due to the current global pandemic, and despite the Under-21’s season being sundered by the bad weather, Hall believes that the season can be hailed as a feat due to the number of academy graduates who have left a positive impression on the first team.

“This season is something that I class as a success,” stated Hall.

“We tried to help Kyle (Jordan, ex manager) out over the course of the season, with players stepping up to play in the league and in cup games – it was a great thing for me.

“I was delighted for Jack Morton, who hadn’t played for two years before this season, Zac [Walker] had come into the team on the back of a bad injury, Jonesy [Sam Jones] managed to continue where he left off in the promotion campaign, while Alister [Haydock] and Harry [Holland] went into the side and made an impact.

“These lads could be world-beaters if they wanted to; I have preached that mentality to them every session this year. Every game this year has been about the mentality and mindset of the players, about what they want to achieve.

“Being young in non-league football, it is not unheard of that lads can go from non-league and into the EFL in Leagues One and Two – they just need to put their mind to it.

“Overall, the lads were great and came together well as a group, and they played some really good football at times.”

Hall is also looking forward to next season, with being able to work with new manager Craig Parry, as well as his side being able to flourish on a brand-new 4G pitch.

The 26-year-old added: “I think being organised is one thing that I am using this lockdown for, in planning for next season.

“I have been in contact with the new management team about how they want to play to make sure I can mirror the football in the youth teams.

“With the 4G pitch, it will just be a massive benefit for us to knock the ball around and hopefully attack teams until they give in again and help the lads to develop in the way that we want them to, and to help support the first team next year.”
