Injury hell for Dinnington Town

They had to make their first change before the game had even started when Joe Bytheway was injured during the warm up and his replacement Danny Hoyland only lasted 15 mins before he limped off with a damaged hamstring.

Teversal were quickly on the attack and took only five mins to take the lead when Town’s defence failed to clear and Ollie Wood pounced to score from close in.

They increased their lead on 32 minutes when Danny Swales appeared unmarked at the far post to score an easy second.

In between Town played some attractive football but lacked a cutting edge to convert their chances.

Their best chance came ojust before the break when a well taken free-kick by Man of the Match Michael Trench was well saved by home keeper Ryan Brooks. The second half continued in much the same vein and Town’s best chances came from a number of driving runs from full-back Tom Fairweather,but again these failed to produce any end product.

Town were reduced to 10 men on the hour mark when John Roper received two yellow cards – after believing he was the one who was fouled, a decision which puzzled travelling supporters and management team alike.

The team with 10 men dominated the remainder of the play but could not reduce the arrears.

Dinnington went down to nine men when Trench was carried off after being on the receiving end of a strong challenge.

On Saturday they’re due to host Grimsby Borough at Phoenix Park, weather permitting, before a trip to Nostell Miners Welfare in the League Cup on Tuesday night.
