Nuneaton Town are hoping to finally conclude the long running Tom Elliott saga before their game on Saturday at Corby.

Worksop Town announced 15 days ago that the home-grown midfield talent was departing Sandy Lane.

But despite the two clubs reaching an agreement before that announcement, over what will be an undisclosed fee, Elliott is still not officialy a Boro player.

Kevin Wilson, manager at the National League North side, told the Guardian he was optimistic the deal was almost over the line.

“I’m hoping it will go through before Saturday,” he said.

The delay in proceedings is not thought to have involved Worksop Town.

Elliott, who hasn’t played competitive football since 30th January, has caught his new manager’s eye in training.

“I’ve been impressed by him,” said Wilson.

“He’s got lovely feet.”
