The left footed wide man impressed in his first month with the club, netting the winner at home to Tamworth on his debut before scoring the equaliser in the win at Curzon Ashton last time out.

The midfielder appeared twice last season for Barnsley in League One, including a goal in a win over Blackpool, under the guidance of the now Bristol City manager Lee Johnson.

Speaking after the win at Curzon, Templeton said: “I’m really enjoying it here, happy and glad that I have come to Gainsborough.”

“They are a great bunch of lads and I get on well with the gaffer and I want to make my stay longer. I’m happy to stay for as long as possible, to get more game time under my belt and to keep improving as a footballer.”

“The fans have been really supportive of me since I joined, they have been very welcoming as have the staff, so hopefully the extension can be good for me and for them.”

The victory over Curzon Ashton was Trinity’s first away win of the season and according to Templeton, that was what their performance warranted.

Speaking of his goal, he said: “James Reid is always good for looking for balls through to strikers or runner in the midfield, so I gave him a shout, cut inside and I was thinking I need to get it on my left foot and hit it into the bottom corner off the post.”

“It was not the best of starts but we knew straight away what we needed to do and we all dug in, got a goal back and then second half we needed to get at them, keeping doing what we were doing in the first and be more positive, and we got our reward.”

Templeton and the Blues will be back in action on Saturday at home to Chorley.
