Ordsall Bridon maintaining pressure at top

Ordsall Bridon ensured leaders Glapwell stayed just six points clear at the top of the Bassetlaw Cricket League Championship, with a win over Thoresby Colliery at home.

While Glapwell were beating Notts and Arnold Amateur, Ordsall Bridon made 253 for 8 thanks to Paul van den Heuvel’s 79 runs and David Fagan’s 68.

They then bowled Thoresby Colliery out for 208, Tim Miles in the wickets again with 6 for 47.

Retford now sit just five points ahead of second-bottom Harthill after defeat at the hands of Clipstone.

The Seventh Avenue hosts made 292 for 8 before declaring, although Pascal Broadley (3 for 66) and Todd Wray (4 for 69) made some headway with the ball.

In reply Retford could only muster 105 runs, Clipstone bowling them out.

North Wheatley with Leverton were beaten by five wickets at Worksop, after making 174 for 9 and seeing their hosts reach 175 for 5.

On Saturday Retford will visit Kiveton Park, North Wheatley with Leverton are at home to Harthill, and Ordsall Bridon take on Cuckney II.

In Division One last weekend, Everton lost to Killamarsh by four wickets.

Everton were all out for 119, despite Gareth Campion’s knock of 59.

They’ll look to bounce back this weekend, when they make the trip to Papplewick and Linby II.

Killamarsh made the required total for the loss of six batsmen, although Matt Hewson (5 for 32) made a nuisance of himself for Everton.

Division Two’s Ordsall Bridon II were comprehensive victors at Debdale Lane when they took on Sherwood.

Luke Tong and Ashley Corrie both made half centuries in an imposing 266 for 7 for Ordsall.

And Andy Legg’s 7 for 4 ensured Sherwood made just 52 before being skittled.

In Division Three, Retford II beat Thoresby Park by seven wickets to take the full 20 points.

Thoresby Park were all out for 136 as Kevin Pattenden took impressive figures of 3 for 20.

In reply, Retford knocked off the runs with just three batsmen losing their wickets, and Chris Hall’s 72 was the highlight.

Everton II lost out to Woodsetts by 39 runs at the Metcalfe Ground in a Division Four encounter.

Woodsetts made 194 for 6, and then had Everton II all out for 155, as Robert Hunter-Shaw made an unbeaten 50 that just wasn’t enough.

Fellow Division Four outfit North Wheatley with Leverton II beat Blidworth II by five wickets.

Blidworth II made 146 for 9, as Ian Tingle took 3 for 36.

In reply the home side lost five wickets on their way to 149 runs and victory, Dave Waller making 56 and Nick Purkiss 45.
