Mixed results for Retford CC

RETFORD Cricket Club slipped from the top of the Bassetlaw Championship over the Bank Holiday Weekend.

But the Cricket Field Lane men made amends for Saturday’s 74-run loss to Kiveton Park with a narrow win over Glapwell on Monday.

On Saturday they dismissed Kiveton Park for 157, Paul Singleton taking 4 for 27, but only made 83 in reply, John Musgrove top scoring with 31.

Monday’s visit of Glapwell saw Singleton in the wickets again with 3 for 35 as the visitors were skittled for 128.

In reply, Retford made 129 for 9, Wewalwela Chanditha scoring 32 runs.

The results leave Retford third in the table, behind Farnsfield and Anston, ahead of Saturday’s trip to West Indian Cavaliers seconds.

Fellow Championship side and local rivals Ordsall Bridon had a positive weekend, beating Notts & Arnold Amateur by three wickets on Saturday, and taking the lion’s share of the points in a draw with Thoresby Colliery on Monday.

David Fagan and Marc Brewer notched half centuries on Saturday, while Rob McLeod top scored with 113 on Monday and James Brice was unbeaten on 82.

This weekend fifth placed Ordsall will visit Kiveton Park.
