Hong Kong home joy for talented Marshalls old boy

Marshalls Cricket Club are celebrating the success of an old boy, after he helped his country to second spot in a World T20 qualifying group.

Nadeem Ahmed spent a season with the Gainsborough club in 2010, and has been steadily building his reputation on the world cricket scene, before earning selection by his home country Hong Kong.

While playing in the Bassetlaw League, the 26-year-old worked hard to progress the junior section at Marshalls.

A club spokesman told the Standard: “He has had test cricket side Pakistan enquire about his availability, and if the International Cricket Board would sanction a selection for them.”

“Nadeem was a strong influence here during his stay and his help with coaching younger members and developing them into stronger cricketers is still very evident.”

“No more than five of his pupils contributed well for the club in the 2013 season.”
