An athletics obsessed mother and daughter pair from Worksop had a brush with sporting stardom on Sunday.

Dawn and Mia Swindell, who live at Water Meadows, were two of 25 lucky winners of a British Athletics competition who got to meet Olympic champion Mo Farah and run two miles with him.

Year 7 Outwood Portland student Mia runs for Worksop Harriers in the Under 13 age group, and got the chance to showcase her talent at Alexander Stadium in Birmingham, in front of Farah who won the 3000m at the Glasgow Indoor Grand Prix on Saturday.

Proud mum Dawn said: “It was a once in a lifetime experience.

“We also won two tickets to return to see Mo run in the Diamond League at Birmingham on 5th June.”
