All Blacks just edge it

Gainsborough All Blacks’ entertained Barton and their discipline and superb defence just gave them the edge in a very even and tight game, winning 6-3.

The first five minutes of the game were totally dominated by the All Blacks in both the forwards and the backs.

Nathan Harmer Bates had the speed to catch Barton’s quick men, and Chadwick was all round the park, wining loose ball and setting up breaks.

Dodsley, who was named man of the match, tackled constantly, while Elliot Humphrey was a thorn in the Barton side as every time he had ball in hand he ran hard at the visitors’ defence,

Gainsborough took the lead with a well struck Parker penalty but Barton levelled the score on a rare attack into the Gainsborough half, before the All Blacks won the game with another Parker penalty five minutes from time.

There were sound performances from Goude and Taylor both in scrummaging, tackling and loose play along with Mark Ellis in the back row.

This weekend the first team travel to Scunthorpe and the second XV go to Retford.
