You can now buy a giant ‘love sausage’ from Asda - just in time for Valentine’s Day

If you want to treat you and your partner to a romantic meal this Valentine’s Day, Asda may have dished up the perfect dish in the form of its new love heart-shaped sausage.

Launched in time for the new winter series of Love Island, the Love Heart Cumberland Sausage is shaped to look like a heart and is described by the supermarket as a ‘Valentine’s Day treat’.

The perfect ‘I love you’

The giant sausage is comprised of four sausages which have been made into the shape of a love heart and includes the flavours of thyme, sage nutmeg and cayenne pepper.

Asda’s Product Developer Amanda Hill said: “Nothing says ‘I love you’ more than a novelty-shaped sausage.

“Novelty products are always well received by our customers, who love to serve-up something special, and we expect the Love Heart Cumberland Pork Sausages to be no different.

“Moving into 2020, we want to continue giving our customers what they want; creating innovative products that deliver on quality and price.”

The launch of the product comes off the back of the ‘love sausage’ that M&S launched last year, which was an adaptation of pigs in blankets.

This sausage featured pork sausage wrapped in streaky bacon and topped with truffle - costing £5.

An Asda spokesperson added: "Don’t be a melt, and add it to your evening for the perfect cosy night in: couple up with your bae to watch the first Winter Love Island this January …or, if you’re a singleton, share it with your BFF!

"It’s an absolute sort!"

How much does it cost?

The giant sausage is priced at £3.70 - or shopper can also purchase it as part of Asda’s three for £10 offer.
