New invention allows men to pee while behind the wheel

A man has brought some relief to long car journeys by inventing a versatile tube that allows men to take a wee behind the wheel.

The 'Car Pool' expands to 18in and comes with a universal head fitting which forms a water-tight seal with bottles and cans.

Structural engineer Eric Bert, 36, said his bizarre £19 product works by attaching it to an upright container then expanding the tube.

The flexible plastic cylinder bends and has a diameter of around 2.2in is designed to stay in its position throughout the journey.

It can be used with a single hand allowing the driver to keep the other on the wheel and comes with a top cap that screws on to the bottle it is attached to.

The tube then compresses down to 12in for easy transportation.

Mr Bert, from Brooklyn, New York, has created a tongue-in-cheek video demonstrating how to use The Car Pool.

The eccentric said he was inspired to design it when needing to go the toilet while inspecting tall bridges when he worked as a structural engineer in New York.

He said: "I would be at the top of a bridge hundreds of feet high and wouldn't have anywhere to go to the bathroom. Then a lightbulb went off in my head and I came up with the idea for The Car Pool.

"At this point I decided I really wanted to do something important with my life, make a change on a global scale, do something that would make the world a better place, not only for our generation, but for our children, and our children's children, so I quit my job and developed The Car Pool.

"It took me a long time to come up with the final design and find the materials to develop one of the greatest technological breakthroughs of the 21st century."

This is not the first time Mr Bert has created a left-field invention.

Videos of him using his Coffee Mug Water in New York - a coffee mug that expands into a water/smoking pipe - were shared widely online last year.

The Car Pool can be bought on Eric Bert's Kickstarter page:
