Worksop charity Joel: The Complete Package, which provides support to families who have experienced pregnancy and baby loss, held the event on March 24 with several familes attending to support the cause.

In addition to the oak tree, two picnic benches were unveiled, creating a place for families to remember their lost loved ones.

Rachel Hodges, committee member at Joel, said: “It was a fabulous event. There were a lot of tears and smiles.

“We met lots of families who were grateful for somewhere special to go and remember their precious babies.”

The oak tree was donated to the charity by Northern Garden supplies in Oldcotes, and the preparation leading up to the event has been funded by Bassetlaw District Council who also donated one of the two picnic benches.

Among those that attended was the chairman of Bassetlaw District council Gwynneth Jones and chairman of Nottinghamshire County Council Sybil Fielding.

Coun Gwynneth Jones said: “It was a privilege to be there and take part in this wonderful ceremony.”

Joel continues to develop several projects including the launch of a project inviting people to donate their wedding gowns to be recreated into gowns for sleeping babies to wear.

They were also the chosen charity of Worksop Light Operatic Society for 2015, and last week received a cheque from the theatre company for just over £1,500.
