Worksop: Proposal to build 139 holiday homes in Clumber Park

Richard Sidi, a property developer from Sheffield, submitted the plans.

The proposed holiday homes, if given the green light, will be on land north of Clumber Road, adjacent to Clumber Lane End Farm.

The site which is currently being used as agricultural land, is across three fields, which covers just over 31 acres.

This will be close to the North West boundary of Clumber Park, which is a Registered Historic Grade I Listed building and is fully owned by the National Trust.

As well as the proposal of 139 holiday homes, there are plans for an amenity building and associated buildings.

A spokesman for the National Trust said this week: “We’re not adverse to the principle of increasing more holiday accommodation of this type as it could have great benefits for tourism and the economy of North Nottinghamshire.”

“However, we will be responding to the application to highlight the need for any such development so close to Clumber Park, with its designations and historic importance, to be appropriate in scale, design and other such considerations.”

The application states the developments will not increase flood risks to the surrounding area, however it does have the potential to have an impact on the Grade II listed Truemans Lodge.

At the moment the site currently isn’t vacant and the plans state the buildings will be visible to passers-by via road and public footpath.

The original application was submitted to Bassetlaw District Council on 2nd October.

The design agent for this proposed development is Jackson Design Agents who are based in Ollerton.
