The complaint was brought to the attention of Bassetlaw District Council following a tip off from a local resident who witnessed the man dumping a mattress and a mirror on the service road off Mercia Close.

After the concerned resident provided a statement to the Council, the man was contacted and asked for an explanation.

He received a formal letter from the Council and admitted he committed the offence. He did not contest the complaint and agreed to pay the fine immediately.

Coun Julie Leigh, abinet member for neighbourhoods at Bassetlaw Council, said: “I am delighted that local residents are providing us with evidence when such incidents occur.”

“This is a clear example of how we can work with local residents to improve Bassetlaw and stop others from spoiling our area.”

“ They are saying enough is enough, this is our community and we won’t stand for it.”
