Worksop: Man air lifted to hospital after serious crash on the A57

A man has been taken to hospital by Air Ambulance after a serious accident on the A57 at Worksop on Sunday (16th, February).

Fire crews from Worksop and Tuxford attended the incident which occurred shortly before 8.30am on the stretch of the A57 between the A60 island and Netherton Road.

Two cars, a Vauxhall Corsa and BMW were involved with both drivers injured in the crash.

The driver of the BMW managed to free himself from the wreckage of his car but the nature of his injuries meant he was immediately air lifted to hospital in Sheffield when the emergency services arrived.

The driver of the Corsa, also a man, was trapped in the wreckage and had to be cut free by fire crews before being taken to hospital in a land ambulance suffering from broken bones and whiplash.

No other people were in other car at the time of the accident.
