NAAFI in the Cafe, organised by social enterprise Unload, will take place on Thursday 27th November, between 4.00pm and 6.00pm, on Bridge Street.

Mike Payne, founder of Unload, and a veteran himself, recognises the lasting impact that combat can have on families and communities.

“We support people living with the hidden wounds of armed conflict,” he said.

“The mission is for you to get back on your feet, back in balance and self-reliant.”

“You will be heard and understood by those who already understand what you have been through.”

“This event is for you and we will meet you where you are at.”

“It is safe to talk freely and openly or to just sit and observe quietly.”

“This launch marks the start of a twice weekly NAAFI in the Cafe and you can get more details on the launch night. Feel free to bring friends and family too.”

A spokesperson said: “These events will offer a relaxed place to go with the whole family or on your own to eat a freshly made, hot and healthy meal, at a very affordable price – from £2.50 for a three course meal.”
