Worksop: Cancer survivor fights back to complete Race for Life and say thank you

Bassetlaw Council has welcomed the Sheffield City Region (SCR) Growth Deal which allocates up to £6.5 million worth of investment into enabling housing and infrastructure projects in North Notts.

The funding is part of anoverall Government investment of £297.3 million into Sheffield City Region, with a further award of £251.3 million of funding from 2016-17 onwards

The money for Bassetlaw will see £1.8 million funding for highways improvements in Harworth and Bircotes to enable greater transport access and connectivity and drive further development;

There will be £2.6 million in provisional funding for Worksop and Vesuvius Works to deliver a series of highway improvements to facilitate employment and housing site development;

And there will be a £2.1 million loan funding (subject to due diligence) to Langtree Land and Property plc to accelerate the delivery of 300 homes on the Former Firbeck Colliery site in Costhorpe.

Coun Jo White, cabinet member for regeneration, said: “It is vital that we continue to push for investment and funding to bring jobs and development to North Notts.”

“We build on this momentum and continue to aggressively pursue growth, regeneration and investment and entice more employers to North Notts.”

Coun Simon Greaves, leader of Bassetlaw Council and SCR LEP board member added: “This shows that we have got our strategic economic plan spot on and I am delighted that the latest announcements provide up to £6.5 million of funding to North Notts.”
