Worksop and Retford: Slimmers race for life and raise almost £1k for Cancer Research UK

The 35 women and men are just a handful of members from the Retford, Manton and Carlton-in-Lindrick Slimming World groups who held their own 10 mile event to raise money for Cancer Research UK, the organisation’s charity partner throughout 2014.

The groups decided to join forces not only to raise money for the charity but also to meet fellow members from other Slimming World groups in the area to share their stories and weight loss journeys

Members were invited to bring along their family, friends and pets to join in the event which had two starting points, consultants Caroline lead the Retford team and Laura led the Worksop team, with a finish line meeting half way at The Chequers Inn at Ranby. The overall route took the groups along a beautiful scenic 10 mile route of the Chesterfield Canal.

The group’s race was part of a wider national event running across all Slimming World groups between July 21st and August 3rd. The race was not competitive, and those taking part could choose the distance they’d like to cover.
