A Worksop school has sent a text to parents warning them to be vigilant after a man 'exposed' himself to a school girl as she walked home.

The 17-year-old pupil was walking back to her house from Outwood Academy Valley Post-16 Centre on Raines Avenue at the time of the incident, which happened yesterday (Tuesday, January 26) at around 3.30pm.

After “exposing” himself to the teenager, the man followed her in his car onto Prospect Drive where she managed to escape onto the estate before running home.

The text reads: “We have received an increasing no. of reports of adults approaching school children. Pls take every action to ensure your child’s safety to/from the Academy.”

It comes after a female Outwood Academy Portland pupil was followed home by two men in a car on January 13, though police say there is “nothing to suggest” that there is a link between these two events.

Worksop neighbouring inspector Neil Bellamy said: “Officers are investigating these two unconnected incidents and we have adapted our patrol plans to monitor the areas in which the incidents occurred.

“We are also liaising with the school to ensure students are aware of these thankfully rare incidents.

“The advice is always to be alert, but not alarmed, and to report any suspicious activity.”

A spokesman for Outwood Grange Academies Trust said:“A Post-16 student has confirmed that she reported an incident to the police after leaving school yesterday.”

“She has reported being followed by a man in a car. Our priority that morning, when it was reported to the academy, was to work with students and the police as required.”

Anyone with information that could help police with their enquiries should call Nottinghamshire Police on 101, quoting incident number 534 of Tuesday, January 26.
