There is currently a delay of up to 40 minutes to all journeys through the station and the disruptions are expected to continue until at least 3pm.

The main East Coast line between London and Glasgow passes through Retford and services on that route and other local and national routes are being affected.

To help passengers affected by the delays, both East Coast and Grand Central have said passengers may use each others services and East Midlands Trains on reasonable routes.

East Coast passengers may also use Virgin Trains services between London Euston and Glasgow, ScotRail services on reasonable routes, First Transpennine Express services to Leeds, York and the North East, CrossCountry services on reasonable routes and Northern Rail services on reasonable routes.

First Hull Trains are no longer being affected by the incident and their services are running as normal again.

The man was killed when he was hit by a train shortly before 10am this morning (Wednesday, 13th August).

At this stage, British Transport Police are continuing their investigations and the dead man had not yet been named.
