Sturton-by-Stow could be getting 50 new homes and a new doctors and dentist if planning application is approved

If approved the development will be built on land north of Marton Road.

The application has been submitted by the Gelder Group and its CEO, Steve Gelder MBE, said Sturton-by-Stow is a fitting location for them.

He said: “The village has been our home for the past 28 years and, as a local company, we have a vision to create high quality homes for local people.

“We were approached by the land owners after they had been contacted by a national house builder and needless to say, they wanted to work with somebody that had a vested interest in the village.

“This is a development that we firmly believe will bring enhancement to the village.

“The site proposed is a logical expansion point for the village and the proposed development would not only support the limited services and facilities that are already on offer within the locality, but will add to them bringing a new Doctors Surgery and Dispensary as well as a Dental Practice and a retirement facility“

West Lindsey District Councillor for Sturton-by-Stow, Reg Shore, said: “The promise of a doctors’ surgery and a dentist is certainly an attractive proposition but this has to be balanced, of course, against the loss of green belt, albeit some of this has already been allocated for development.

“Something of this size must be a village decision so I will be listening carefully to the debate locally. What residents think is the primary consideration for me.

“Personally, I would love to see the village gain such important facilities but at the same time I understand peoples’ concerns about the integrity of the village.

“Sturton-by-Stow is truly a great place to live and the people living in it will not be brought off with promises.

“If I know them as well as I think I do then I imagine that they will carefully weigh up their options and make their decisions accordingly.”
