Retford: Leisure Centre to host swimming event

The national Swim Britain initiative is an eight week training programme funded by the British Gas Swim Britain event for people to access up to four coaching sessions in the Retford Leisure Centre swimming pool.

The training will prepare people in the run up to the big ‘British Gas Swim Britain’ event in September.

Swim Britain is set to be the country’s biggest swimming relay event where everyone is welcome.

All you need is a team of four to swim 1,000m each or there’s a 500m option. Retford Leisure Centre, operated by BPL, will give you your coaching and help with any advice and support you may need along the way.

Simon Ferrarelli, facility manager at BPL, said: “We are delighted that the pool at Retford Leisure Centre has been chosen to host this initiative. British Gas Swim Britain is a wonderful event where families and friends up and down the UK come together for one big swim relay.”
