Ready, steady, dash!

A GROUP of cheerful Santas braved the cold on Sunday morning to run around Rother Valley Country Park raising hundreds of pounds for charity.

Twenty fundraisers from the Co-Op in Aston weren’t put off by the below freezing temperatures and got under starter’s orders at 10am.

Organiser John Marsh said: “Although cold it was a bright sunny day we set off with runners ranging from eight to 60-years-young against a back drop of cheering supportive wrapped up warm, family and friends.”

“The Santas faced a sharp cold wind in their face and a glare of the morning sun in their eyes as they dodged obstacles of ice patches.”

After just 21 minutes the winner Josh Martin passed the finish line with many of the other Santas hot on his heels.

The £1,459 raised will be split between Sheffield Children’s Hospital and Weston Park Hospital.
