Primary academy celebrates all-round 'Strong' rating by Ofsted inspectors

Staff and pupils at Bracken Lane Primary Academy are celebrating their latest Ofsted inspection report, which gives the school a 'strong' rating across every area of its provision.

The academy, part of Diverse Academies Trust, was inspected on June 30 this year, with inspectors assessing areas including curriculum and teaching, inclusion, achievement and progress, behaviour and attendance, personal development and wellbeing, early years, and leadership and governance.

Inspectors described the school as a welcoming place where pupils are ‘proud to belong’ and are ‘polite, respectful and considerate of others’ with ‘positive attitudes to learning’.

The report recognises the strength of leaders who have 'clear vision’ with ‘high expectations’ that underpin a culture where pupils and staff thrive.

It is noted that ‘pupils achieve above-average outcomes’ and are well prepared for the next stage of their education.

Inspectors also highlight the school's positive culture, describing relationships between staff and pupils as ‘warm, respectful and supportive’.

Both curriculum and teaching were recognised as strengths, with inspectors finding the curriculum is taught ‘consistently well’ and that staff have ‘secure subject knowledge’ and are well trained to understand pupils' individual needs.

Moving forward, inspectors said leaders should ensure continued refinement and improvement to the implementation of their curriculum 'to sustain and raise further the achievement of all pupils, particularly disadvantaged pupils and pupils with special educational needs and/or disabilities'.

Principal, Helen Cawkill, said: “We are absolutely delighted with the outcome of the report, which is a fantastic recognition of the hard work, dedication and commitment shown by everyone in our school community.

"Every member of staff works tirelessly to provide the very best education and opportunities for our children, and this outcome reflects that collective effort.

“I am incredibly proud of our children, whose enthusiasm, kindness and ambition shine through every day, and of our staff for the passion and care they bring to their roles. This is a wonderful achievement for our whole school community."

Director of Education, Lucy Spacey, said: “We are incredibly proud of this exceptional outcome for Bracken Lane Primary Academy.

"The report reflects the strong culture we have created, where high expectations are matched by genuine care and support for every child.

“It is particularly pleasing to see the inspectors recognise the quality of teaching, the positive relationships across the school and the excellent outcomes being achieved by pupils.” Diverse Academies Trust chief executive officer, David Cotton, added: “The report is a testament to the dedication of the staff, pupils, families and the wider school community, whose collective efforts have created a place where children can thrive. “This outcome reflects our Trust's commitment to inspiring young people, raising aspirations and creating brighter tomorrows.

"Congratulations to everyone involved on this well-deserved recognition."
