Invitation to community fun day with live music - for Worksop boy Jacob

A family day full of activity and entertainment takes place this month to support a Worksop boy who is undergoing treatment for a rare cancerous brain tumour that has also affected his spinal cord.

Five-year old Jacob Robinson was diagnosed with a medulloblastoma at the start of the year and since then has undergone treatment at Sheffield Children's Hospital that has involved surgery and three rounds of chemotherapy, with seven more to go, followed by radiotherapy in Manchester.

To help the stricken family, their relative Ellie Bolton, 25, of Rhodesia has organised the fundraiser with support from other family members, saying they 'felt strongly about doing something meaningful to support them during this incredibly difficult time'.

She added: "We want to not only raise funds but also bring the community together in support of Jacob and his parents and older sister Amelia."

The family friendly event with adult entertainment from 8pm in the evening takes place on August 29 at The Brindley Bar and Restaurant in Rhodesia, Worksop.

It will run from 1pm to 8pm with a host of attractions including raffles, tombolas, crafts and other stalls, live singers and bands, face painting and a bouncy castle, with barbecue and other food, all designed to bring people together for a great cause.

All funds raised will be given directly to Jacob’s parents, Jason and Lucy, to help with hospital travel, stays, and the ongoing costs and financial pressures that come with Jacob’s treatment.

Local businesses and residents in and around Worksop have been wonderful in coming forward with offers of help and donations, said Ellie.

"Jacob is such a loving little boy who has a special way of making people laugh, and his bright personality is something that truly lights up a room. He deserves the chance to enjoy life, make memories, and simply be a child," she added.

Everyone is welcome to go along and enjoy the day.

Performers will take to the stage as follows: 12 noon to 1pm - DJ, 1pm to 1.45pm The Storm Trees, 2.15pm to 3.15pm The Score Puppets, 3.30pm to 4.30pm Leigha Patrick, 4.45pm to 5.30pm Saxy Mike, 5.30pm to 6.15pm raffle draw, 6.15pm to 7.45pm The Score Band.
