Support for Dementia
In reality, there are around 1,500 people living with the condition in Bassetlaw - and many more who are in regular contact with family and friends with the condition.
I want to take the opportunity as the Alzheimer’s Society support worker for Bassetlaw to highlight local help which many people simply don’t know about.

From the beginning of someone’s journey with dementia right the way through the condition – my role is to provide information in the right way, at the right time and to signpost people to support.
I provide accurate, accessible information to help people with dementia and their carers make informed decisions. As the person’s needs change, I can answer a variety of questions from ‘is it safe for me to drive?’ to questions about care homes or respite care.
Although I am in contact with many people locally, I know that there are many more that are missing out on support that can help them live well with the condition.
