Know the dangers around open water

We’d like to highlight the dangers of hanging around open water, and specifically the recent trend for young people to gather and drink alcohol in Langold Country Park. We are not only concerned about those under-age gaining access to and consuming alcohol we are also aware that the park has a lake and there is a danger of people under the influence of alcohol falling in. We ask parents to be aware of where your children are in an evening and if you know where this alcohol is being bought or supplied report it to us on 101.

We are also beginning to see and hear more people riding off-road bikes across farmers fields in Carlton and in Langold Country Park. Be aware that there are laws governing on and off-road bikes and quads.

Riders and pillion passengers must wear a protective helmet for all journeys. Helmets must also comply with the regulations and must be fastened securely. Certain models are only suitable for off-road use and do not meet legal standards for use on roads, pavements, footpaths, cycle paths or bridleways.

All vehicles must meet legal standards and be properly registered, taxed and insured. Use of off-road vehicles on private land without permission or to cause damage or nuisance could land you in handcuffs.
