Don’t gift car to opportunist thieves

It’s cold, it’s early, you’ve not too long ago got out of bed. It’s fair to say no one is performing at their best first thing in the morning.

But this cold weather seems to be sticking around and, as a result, we are still having to get up that bit earlier to defrost our windscreens.

Over the last few weeks there has been a number of motorists who have had their vehicles stolen by opportunist thieves after leaving their keys in the ignition.

A number of the victims have actually been delivery drivers during the day time, who have left their van engine running while they pop out to make a delivery.

Don’t gift a thief your car, and in some cases, your livelihood. Report suspicious activity around vehicles to police on 101 or call Crimestoppers anonymously on 0800 555 111.

In other news, as of next week, the Force is looking to recruit 150 new police officers.

South-West PC Jason Crofts thinks he has the best job in the world.

“I love being a cop. Being a police officer is a role that is incredibly fulfilling and at times confronting. You will be hard pressed to find similar experiences, emotions and satisfaction in most other jobs.”

If you want to be with the Force, you have two weeks to apply and if you are successful you will join our 2,000 plus officers already working in the Force.

To find out more about the application process visit the Force website at www.nottinghamshire.police.uk from Monday (25 February 2013).
