Both chambers will vote today (Thursday 31st October) and if they vote in favour of a merge, talks to formalise the deal will open tomorrow (Friday 1st November).

DNCC Chief Executive, George Cowcher, said: “The result of today’s vote by DNCC members brings the proposed merger of the two chambers another step closer.”

“Over the past 18 months, both Chambers have been working more closely together and the proposed merger is the logical extension of this.”

“The due diligence has been done, so assuming Leicestershire members vote the same way, we will aim to wrap up the talks quickly to ensure the merger concludes as smoothly as possible.”

“I think today’s vote reflects the fact that member businesses from both chambers recognise the value of merging into a single, three-county super-chamber.”

“It will become the premier source of business information, support and other services in the East Midlands which is capable of influencing at a national level.”
