The submission version of the Local Plan captures the key growth issues for the area over the next 20 years and has taken into consideration the concerns raised at the earlier stages.

Unlike the previous consultations in 2014 and 2015, this final consultation focuses on whether the plan is legally compliant, plans positively for future needs, is the most appropriate strategy based on the extensive evidence collected, and that it is effective and consistent with national planning policy.

Once consultation closes on May 26, any representations made are sent to the Secretary of State, along with the Proposed Submission Local Plan and its supporting evidence reports. This will then be considered by an independent Planning Inspector later this year.

The Local Plan sets out a response to an increasing population and changes in lifestyle, as well as ensuring that roads, schools, shops and other facilities are provided for, while preserving and enhancing what is special about Central Lincolnshire. The Proposed Submission Local Plan sets a housing target of 36,960, of which around 10,000 have either already been given permission or been built. Much of this growth is focused in or around Sustainable Urban Extensions (SUEs) in Gainsborough, Lincoln and Sleaford.

Limited growth is identified in villages and measures have been put in place to ensure homes are built and designed for all in the community, including affordable and accessible properties.
