Kids meet fire heroes

YOUNGSTERS from around the Worksop area have been making the most of their summer holidays by meeting their local firefighting heroes.

A range of events have taken place where kids have been taught about fire safety and been given the chance to meet Worksop’s fire and rescue teams - not to mention the opportunity to sit behind the wheel of a fire engine.

The action started when Worksop Library held a ‘Meet the Firefighters’ day .

Visitors enjoyed an action-packed programme of activities including the chance to try out guidance ropes to find their way out of a darkened room and see a chip pan fire demonstration.

Then over the weekend, families descended upon Worksop Fire Station for a special open day where they met the Fire Investigation Dog and found out what they could do to keep their community safe.
