Griffin Freight Services on the Hallcroft Industrial Estate has added to its fleet with 15 new trailers and eight tractor units thanks to support from Yorkshire Bank.

Yorkshire Bank’s Business and Private Banking Centre in Nottingham, provided the finance package through its Asset Finance facilities for the 60-strong company.

Mick Griffin, who founded the company in 1991 with his dad, Tim, who died last year, said its vehicles were mainly used by the construction and manufacturing industry to deliver products across the UK.

Mick said: “Yorkshire Bank has funded 15 new trucks and eight tractor units which are used to transport large and heavy loads up to 44 tonnes.”

“Across the fleet we now have 50 trucks and 65 trailers of all different sorts.”

“Our volumes are increasing and buying the extra vehicles and recruiting 15 more employees means we have the capacity to meet growing workloads which includes having smaller vans for transporting smaller goods.”

“Yorkshire Bank has been supportive in our investment and it is vital to have an understanding of our business to help our continued growth which they have shown throughout our meetings.”

Peter Stapleford, from Yorkshire Bank, said Griffin Freight Services was a great example of a family-run company which is maximising opportunities.

Peter said: “We have shown we are committed to helping trading businesses move forward and the extra funding has enabled Mick and his team to increase their fleet and add to their workforce which is great news in the current economic climate.”

The company’s overdraft facility has also been increased by £300,000 to help with cashflow.
